Essex Book Award - 2011 Winner

I think that this year's list was the strongest I've taken part in, and the result was really close, but it has been revealed that the winner is Kenneth Oppel's Half Brother. This was also the choice of KEGS participants. Our choices differ after that:

Essex results:

   1.  HALF BROTHER
   2.  FLIP
   3.  SKY HAWK
   4.  HIDDEN
   5.  TRASH
   6.  A BEAUTIFUL LIE

KEGS favourites:

   1.  HALF BROTHER
   2.  SKY HAWK
   3.  TRASH
   3.  FLIP
   5.  A BEAUTIFUL LIE
   6.  HIDDEN

Mr Milliken kindly attended the KEGS party in the library and opened the envelopes to reveal the results of the vote.

Essex Book Award - Visit to Great Baddow High School

9 of the boys taking part in the Essex Book Award went to GBHS to take part in a day of activities, including a talk, Q and A session and creative writing workshop with the author of Flip, Martyn Bedford, a drama workshop enacting a scene from Flip, and a Skype Q and A session with Kenneth Oppel in Canada talking about his book Half Brother.
